JUST BE
Connection does not require authenticity. Authenticity creates community. It is nearly impossible not to be surrounded by people, but creating community requires action. In an attempt to visualize how connection changes long-term, I created a list of 1,000 people I've had a connection to, ranging from close friends and family to people I've only briefly met. I analyzed how many years I've known each person, how much time I spent with them each year, and how authentic the relationship was each year. The result is a representation of how more time spent together does not mean deeper connection, and how while depth of connection may change significantly through a lifetime, once a connection is made it never really ends.
The details:
Each pin represents one person
Each felt square represents one year of connection
Size of square relates to amount of time spent together within the year
Color relates to depth of connection within the year
Once a connection is made, it doesn’t end
